The basic spatial arrangement is based on historical preconditions, i.e. it is a part of the historical core (city surrounded by walls), and the area under consideration represents a significant part of open premises beyond the city walls. The organisation of the location is still visible from the layout. Therefore, the composition puts the biggest emphasis on the junctions in front of the city gates (the town squares Hurbanovo námestie and Námestie SNP – Kamenné námestie), the importance and purpose of which should be undisputable, on the contrary, it should be emphasised by, inter alia, high dominants (Michalská veža tower; the present Manderla building). The remaining areas along the former city walls should thus vary in terms of function and space in order to maintain the spatial hierarchy of the core spots.
